Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies
in Humanities and Social Sciences

The Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies in Humanities and Social Sciences (IISHSS), a private, independent scientific institution located in New York (NY), promotes and supports interdisciplinary research in humanities and social sciences at RIOTS/Addleton Academic Publishers/Contemporary Science Association. It does so by: acting as a focus for intellectual and cultural debate in IISHSS; working with staff to make their existing creative and research activities more visible across and beyond IISHSS; initiating interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary projects; and seeking funding opportunities, helping staff with applications, and influencing funding agendas in IISHSS.
The general aim of IISHSS is to be broadly representative of high-quality research in the social and human sciences. The goals of IISHSS are to enable scholars to easily communicate current research and teaching interests, to discuss new approaches, methods and tools of analysis, and to test new ideas and share comments on the literature in their fields.
The mission of IISHSS is to create an academic community where individuals can pursue advanced work in humanities and social sciences. IISHSS exists to encourage and support fundamental studies, offering all who work here the freedom to undertake research that will make significant contributions in any of the broad range of fields in humanities and social sciences. IISHSS strives to become one of the world’s leading centers for theoretical research and intellectual inquiry. Fellows work individually and across disciplines on projects chosen for their quality and long-term impact. As part of its mission to create an academic community where individuals can pursue advanced work, IISHSS sponsors a range of programs that engage scholars in new research endeavors. Academic engagement programs serve the public by hosting lectures, conferences, and symposia that aim to increase understanding about cutting-edge research.
IISHSS provides administrative support, financial assistance and publicity for interdisciplinary conferences and workshops that are proposed by research groups or individual members of staff. Each week IISHSS circulates to academic staff an email diary of forthcoming research seminars and other events. IISHSS events calendar includes a full listing of lectures, conferences, exhibits, and other events. Unless otherwise noted, events are free and open to the public.
